Fun! I liked your pretext for the song's existance.

Ha nice. While a lot of the lyrics were pretty much the same as the original, the little asides from the (dare I say it) supporting actors of the band made this song the ironic parody that it is. And of course, any bandie who reads this has an egotistical trumpet player that they think of when they read this.

Yay so far! The fresh lyrics ring true to band camp feelings and fit well with the established tune. I (being a percussionist) liked "What keeps the band still marching
When the raging, shifting, beating drums
Change rhythms each day?"
Because it works so well and is so true. I can't wait to read the next chapter. And nice idea, by the way.

om-fecking-g. i'm in love. finding the marching band section of ff.n just made my day, and this song (tango playing) was hilarious. I've actually gone through that situation. Me and my drum major were trying to get the mouthpeice out for like an hour till one of the directors showed up and just kinda popped it out. lol

Congratulations on a beautiful, fun, clever collection of songs/stories from RENT and the band world! I'm now a RENT fan and I love singing the alternate lyrics on my way to concerts or practice! I honestly don't know some of the real lyrics! ^_^
