Absolutely amazing. I love both this and your 'Darkness' and I hope you continue them (please, please, please).

No critique on qpelling or grammer, your structure is very well done.

whoa, I wish you would write more of these. They are amazing. The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorites, and you have sort of made her sound like Elphaba from Wicked. I love it.

Excellent - you've certainly added depth to an otherwise stereotypical bad gal.

Do you plan on continuing? I do hope so.

No, Shego, just another take on Disney. Some may even feature the same characters in a different light.

And the OOC-ness of the characters...yeah, I see what you mean...but if I'm forced to categorize the stories here and the only category they all fit under is 'Disney'. There's no, like, 'folklore about the Little Mermaid' category. Even if I've taken wild artistic liberties, the only place they can go is under 'Disney'. ;_; I can't post them to fictionpress, either, because they aren't original. They're fanfiction.

Thank you so much for your reviews, by the way! =D =D =D

Well done. Keep at it and you could give Gregory Maguire a run for his money.

Are these stories going to be opposites of the stories in "Versions of Darkness"? (I.E. Ariel - Ursula, Mowgli - Shere Kahn, Basil - Ratigan, etc.)

VERY well-written! I love your descriptions. I agree with the person who said it doesn't quite fit Disney's Ursula (who "used to live in the palace" and seemed to be more ambitious, wanting power and enjoying tricking people rather than full of hatred for all things). But it's a great psychological portrait of a villain, a very real and believable story. Well done! I'm always interested in "graying up" the villains and seeing what made them tick (I wrote a whole story about Gaston's childhood in the "Beauty and the Beast" section to explain psychologically why he is the way he is), so I'm very interested in seeing more of this story!

Ooh, this is good, and *entirely* plausible. I like how you charted out the process that made her into a witch, especially the writing on the walls as the source of her spells.

My only quibble is that this character bears little resemblence to Ursula of the Disney film, who is very personable, worldly, and lacks this version's self-loathing.

However, it works perfectly as an origin for the original Hans Christian Anderson version of the fairy tale.

I'm off to read "Versions of Dark" now.
Keep up the good work!
