I just love this story! It is truly epic; the vast emotions you cover astounds me in your understanding of the complexities of reality. It's as if I'm not just following a person with a flashlight through this story but one who lights up every little nook and cranny with vivid detail - poetry in motion with drive and finesse! Huzzah! I was so relieved to learn that this was NOT going to be yaoi. I, like most others, did not read your 'author notes' and when the innuendos started I was filled with dread. I was thinking, "Oh no! I don't want to have to stop reading this story, please, no!" When my anxiety was ended, I realized how impressed I was that you would explore that nature in a realistic way instead of ignoring the possibility of it altogether. To be honest, that stuff is convoluted to me but I just wanted to say that your willingness to explore complicated emotions makes this story rewarding to read. Again I say, HUZZAH!
First off, to start, i couldn't stop laughing at the author's note you put at the end of this. The very imagery of link and ganon riding off into the sunset had me rolling on the floor. (though at 3 in the morning maybe it was just hysterics derived from fatigue...)
Second, my disposition on gay relations is neutral so please to not mistake this question's overall tone.
Throughout the story the implications between the two of them becoming a couple was very evident, even so that the creature possesing the crow had asked it out right, and you claim at the end in the authors note that there will absolutely be no bromance...(not really a question, but im tired)
Currently i find the entire ordeal completely amusing, imagining a fan's reaction to the A.N. afer all that flambouyant innuendo. (or again that might be some hysterics left over fom staying up all night on nothing but fat enducing sweets and running wildly around the block in a vain attempt at STAYING awake...)
Oh my gawd! that was the best story i have ever read! I read this story for 4 hours staight I like how Link and Ganny switched roles, Link is the cruel mean, phycopath while Ganon has been banished from his own kind. That's so cool and Link and Gannon pretty much stick together because theres no one else. This is unbeleivable! Better than any novel i have ever read I cant explain how good this is: This is my favorite Zelda fanfic on this site! Please keep it up and upload Chapter 11! Im so hooked!
ether 5/3/10 . chapter 10
An update? I an shocked and very happy. I think I'll have to reread the previous chapters to make more sense of what's going on, but I'm still loving the interesting writing style of this story.
That was my initial reaction, followed by feelings of hope that answers will be revealed, as this may be the last chapter I ever read...
But now I have MORE questions in need of answers. I just want to know what Lethe is all about! You keep me engaged, and Even though it was a year before you updated, here I am, dedicated to finding out WHY this whole thing came about. If it were to end here, like this... well... I think that would be a shame. A well written story such as this deserves a conclusion.
on the bright side, I think I understand finally which time line we're dealing in here, thanks to Molly/Mahli.
First off, THANK YOU for writing another chapter! Admittedly I was not exactly a Ganondorf fan before I read this, I always just saw Link as the good guy and Ganondorf as the villain. Thank you for changing that perspective for me, I have a lot more sympathy for his character now. You gave both Link and Ganondorf so much depth and it's quite different; I mean that in a good way. I wish very much that you would write more, but I can't push you to write something if you don't wish to continue. Bravo! I'm your biggest fan.
I had only just remembered that I had a profile on this site and was in the middle of checking it out of equal parts curiosity and boredom when you decide to update.
Creepy. A wonderful surprise, certainly, but creepy all the same.
I had to go back and scan over previous chapters to get a feel of where we were at first. I honestly thought you had given up!
Anyway, review, review... I'm not really good at these things, but I won't leave you in the breeze.
It took me a while to read through (the way I like it) and I enjoyed every minute. You really are a talented writer. I love the way you've characterised the world, It feels much more grounded in reality than the the series it's based off, which is oddly refreshing and gives it (ironically) a more alien feel. It does make it a tad jarring when people start mentioning healing spells and potions, though I take it with good humour.
The thing I enjoy the most is how you've handled Ganondorf's inner workings. You've turned an otherwise flat villain into a sympathetic (in a very loose definition, mind) and interesting character with amazing depth.
He's like an enigma wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a bastard. We know almost everything about him, yet at the same time, we don't. It's quite an accomplishment, really.
Finally, the way you brought in Mahli was also well done. For a brief, horrifying minute I thought you were going to introduce a love interest. Instead I got another fascinating window into Ganon's psyche. That last part gave me chills. CHILLS. I have never gotten bloody chills reading a fan fiction. It felt great.
So, yeah... pat on the back. Bravo. Five stars and a gold sticker.
Ah, such an amazing in-depth story :) there's not many zelda fanfics in circulation that amount up to what you have created here. Its...refreshing to read basically a novel. It's got plot and deep character development (which is a hard thing to find in the majority of the fanfics I read. I'm not saying they are bad, but you are just exceptional!) I absolutly love your form of writing as well. I wish I had that kind of talent at my fingertips :(
Anyway, I hope you update soon because you have seriously got me addicted to this story. Keep up the outstanding work!
Holy cow this story is amazing. You're writing is thought provoking and mindful... and it always pushes me to think that destiny is the culprit of it all. You have made Ganondorf quite the interesting mental character, and you've made Link into a curious oddity. I. Love. IT.
These chapters MUST give you headaches! All of them are so long and full of golden facts that it astounds me how you could get through typing one of these! Oh and Lethe... what an confusing enemy!
Oh I know it has been a long time since you updated, but if you have any intention of continuing this story, by all means try to do it. I'm captivated (and really happy that this isn't a yaoi fiction.)
...I love you. I would kill people for you, If I knew you'd write more of Lethe in return! I feel so bad for Ganon, he's old, tired, and defeated! *sob. But I was happy when he discovered his powers once more and killed Arnish!
I read "Lethe" on , is it different on ? Any who your story is truly amazing! I wish dearly that you would continue...and if you struggle from severe writer's block I'd be glad to help! This is a thousand times better than my own fic..."The Legend Of Zelda: Link X Ganondorf"...lol it's a very descriptive yaoi fic!
That about sums it up, right there. 8D Y'know, I really cannot get enough of this story. I like its deliberately unfolding pace; it's almost graceful and hypnotizing in a way. I thought I might dislike Lethe at first - the villain Lete, not the story itself! - but was very pleasantly surprised by how disturbing and...I'm not sure - commanding Lethe was. He or she or it is deserving enough of fear and my attention. Fits right into the Zelda universe and is an even enough match for Ganon and Link.
Anyway, just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this story. I hope you're well, and even if you don't finish it I'm really very grateful for it all. Quite a treat! Thank you for sharing your work with us. 8D
Ahh, update. It's like chicken soup for the soul, but with angst and the blurring of morals. My favorite kind. It power has certainly shifted now entirely to Ganon over Link. The return of Ganon's power makes everything far more interesting as far as I'm concerned.
This is a new shift in the relationship between the two. A tricky dynamic I look forward to reading more of. Link is entirely under Ganon's control as far as physical persuasion goes (AKA: do what I say or I can light you on fire!) and yet Ganon still has random moments of empathy for Link. The fact Lethe has now made it clear he intends to eat Link makes me bounce for joy. Well, not eat him, per say... I'm just glad we're back on track with this whole evil Lethe storyline.
The hook is definitely the line where Ganon says he wants to kill Link himself. Still, that man sends irritatingly mixed messages sometimes. I presume its an after effect of being dead and coming back to find everything unimaginably different and awful. As I perceive him so far, Ganon's still holding to his sensible hatred of Link but, having grown used to having the snarky hero about, feels the occasional poke of doubt about feeding him to an evil river no that he has the upperhand...though he doesn't intend to let that stand in his way!
If that's the Ganon you're describing, then I like him.
I'm glad to see this story updated. I feared for it, but now it's back full swing and you should be happy. All that is beloved about this story seems evident once more in this chapter. Namely Link and Ganon snarling at one another while the puppet-strings of Lethe tug them about. Remember, we readers like a nice understandable plots. Complex plots are great, we love them but we don't love being lost in them. I'm pleased to tell you I'm no longer lost.
