A definitely sad story, well formed and carried out. I like how you separated the 'masquerade' parts by using italics.

You know I hated it when I was younger and first read the books to find that Alanna ended up with George, but years later it's so obvious how she made the right choice. Great fic, I loved it :-)

It's perfect. How Alanna feels now, years later, about being queen, everything. Alanna's characterization is wonderful.

I like the flashbacks - sometimes they can be hard to pull off, but you did them very well.

ooh. What happened? i feel sorry for alanna, though. did you know, in the original SOTL when it was one book, alanna actually did marry jon?

I thought that was great...very true to how they would really act if they did marry! I hope you keep writing, because I'd definitely continue reading your story.

I thought the characters were very much in canon, and I thought you gave a very accurate depiction of what would have happened if Jon and Alanna were married. Keep writing!
