But yeah, for something that would seem like fun at first (I wish I could skip rocks... -sigh-), it sure turned into an angst-fest!

Ha! I love the idea of them having a Depressed Contest. That's as funny as when sick people try to figure out who's sicker. That totally rocked; I'd never even thought of them competing in that way before but it's just so perfect! And yes, the end was cliche, but we all usually end up loving those anyways, and you wrote it really well so no worries.
