I think this is a perfect short story. It's simple and too the point.I like the anxiety of the John character in
him trying to access the gift and Teyla's realisation of how much he went through to get this gift. It's also full of passionwhich comes through in this well writen peice. I don't know if their love is supposed to be out in the open to each other or if that's what you intended from the little embrace at the end but you could interpret that in two ways i find. Either they saying they love each other or that the embrace is just close freinds being in each other's company. well done a good well written character peice of a story.

Aside from the fact that it's short, it's great. Write more.
