I don't read mystery very often and thus I am not familiar with Raymond Chandler or Philip Marlowe but the style this is written in almost compels me to look him up

You are such a wonderfully creative writer - certainly one of the best fan fiction writers for drawing on intertextual references and making them work. Your Draco here is brilliantly drawn, replete with his own aura of personal mystery and backstory. His involvement with Hermione is sweet, touching even. Should you continue this story, and I darned well hope you do, I look forward to more from Hermione. I'm guessing she has to play a crucial role at some stage in the A-plot? As for that A-plot ... most intriguing. I'm strangely reminded, for absolutely no reason I should add, by the French noir thriller, Les Diaboliques, where a man's mistress and wife conspire to murder the errant husband, kill him, and nab his cash/property, but he is not really dead - I think there's blackmail in there too. So that's my game guess for now - Pansy and Cho working together, and now in a stew because 'someone' is onto them. Anyway, it's all good stuff. I look forward to more.

I have always liked your work, but this one is so entrancing, and the writing style is much more mature and gritty, that i'm hooked despite myself. I hope you continue with the story.

I don't often read mysteries, but I read this story because I am a fan of your writing, and I really like it so far. Your Draco doesn't seem very much like canon Draco, but I suppose that's because you're drawing on another character as well for his personality (I have never read any actual detective fiction, so I am not familiar with Chandler or his character Marlowe). I like his sense of humor though; this story is very amusing, though dark at times too. I am *very* interested in learning more about Draco's past, and Draco and Hermione's past, and of course the whole Pansy/Oliver/Cho business. So anyway, great job, and I know it will probably be a while before you update again, but I'll be looking forward to it.

I love this story so damned much. Your feel for Detective Noire is pitch-perfect. This chapter broke my heart. I know this genre rarely ends up with a happy ending, but, dammit, your writing makes me hope against hope that Draco and Hermione will get one, or at least the hope of one, anyway. Keep up the brilliant work.

I find that sweet simplicity brings out more emotional depth than actual description ever can, and I gotta say, what's between Draco and Hermione is incredible. They obviously care about one another, to some extent or other, yet their own thoughts, feelings, morals, and such are keeping them apart. Not to mention Draco's incessant need to get himself into major trouble heh
