Fabulous story. I haven't read the mangas, though I've seen some scans of them, and I liked reading something related to the knights' background. Your characterization was very good, and it was nice to see something about Salome, who's often ignored in fan fiction.

Huzzah for Zexen Knights fic! I really enjoyed this piece because not only is it well written and the characters strong, but because I've also pondered the reaction to Chris's promotion.

One thing: There's one sentence I found that doesn't seem to click. In the paragraph about Louis bringing the food, the sentence about Louis's age seems very tacked on to that paragraph. Perhaps rework it such that it is part of the prior sentence?

Anyway, excellent descriptions, dialogue and story! Very well done.

I love this, especially seeing how it's come since you posted the beginnings of it as a drabble. The corresponding scene in the manga had a sense of dramatic epicness; you've captured that, and you also have everyone feeling wonderfully authentic and true-to-character.

I love the dialog between Chris and Salome when they're discussing the political ramifications, Chris's sarcastic remarks about chastity belts and "being her own man", Salome's internal reaction to thinking about the gossip that will be spread, their almost-discussion over heroism and duty.

I think most of all I love the exchange re: grieving.

Something that makes me this happy deserves some useful concrit, but you'll have to wait for that until the tendency to fangirl has worn off. ^_^;
