abuseWell, as scary as this seems... I'm second guessing myself and not making a whole long of sense. I'm confused... So there were two Bakuras, one Ryou, and... Ryou is the descendent of Bakura from la-la-la ages ago. I got that, and they were communicating from a card? Well, at least Bakura had some solace that his family line continues! Very nice!

abuseFantastic!!
I can't tell you how much I love this story, I would only be babbling... I love all three of them so much, and you've captured them all perfectly, just in the way I like to see them, especially Ryou. I love your style as well, the way you've written Thief King Bakura's thoughts and how he experiences things.
See, I am babbling. I'll just go favorite this and recommend it to everyone I know.

abusefound this via ygo_goodfic, though I'm pretty sure I've seen your name before somewhere else... anyway, whoever recced your fic did right, because it is absolutely beautiful and so unique. I love your Thief King and the realism of your writing.

abuseI love this story so very much. The way you write all three of them! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a cool portrayal of thief king Bakura: you manage to make him be so very human, even while still being – well, Bakura; and even though (or because) he’s surrounded only by ghosts and by death.
It’s a little sad to think that by the time he’ll actually meet Ryou, he will -be- Yami Bakura. He and Ryou seemed to get along so well. In a way. Then again, without Yami Bakura’s supervising, maybe they wouldn’t have. Ryou is loveable beyond words. I’m liking him a bit better just from reading this (and I love Ryou to begin with).

Yami Bakura’s voice is great too: so mean and arrogant and " 'There is no finer thing to be than me, after all,' his future self said with enormous satisfaction.” Really. And you never really come to forget he and the thief king are the same person, even while being very different.

For some reason, I’m thinking of YB as a voice much more than for Ryou. Probably because Ryou is physically present at least a little. The setting itself is the most awesome and original ever! Seriously. The whole scenery is so weird to imagine: first you just see thief king Bakura (and I love the whole part about the ‘hands’ – it must be pretty horrible, and it seems so long for him), and suddenly there’s this shift and I’m picturing Y.Bakura and Ryou somewhere in modern Japan looking down at that card... And you can -feel- the way "the emptiness of the world" is back in the part after "Their presence vanished."

"one day he would need the help of this boy so much that he would need to protect him" is my favourite line I think, because this -is- Bakura and Ryou’s relationship, with all the twisted-ness, but coming from this point of view, there’s suddenly something very sweet about it too. I also like the paragraph from " Bakura did not pay attention. This was about his ghosts." a lot; it’s strange (and appearing perfectly logical) to think of Ryou as being a little like those ghosts to Bakura.. I wonder what Ryou is thinking of the ring spirit after this meeting (not that -he- seems to know).

Yep. Brilliance. But I’ll stop rambling about it now.

abuseThat was...most interesting. I really did enjoy reading it. In fact, I think I'm going to have to invade your other fics now. *mwah hah hah*

And you doubly rock for the word "shora."

abuseWhoa... GOOD story. This was recommended off the livejournal Yugioh_goodfics list, and I'm glad I paid attention. Totally original idea; damn good piece of work.

abuseI liked this, it was very cute. Lol, I think everything is cute. I think that if this situation had actually occured in the anime, it would have happened like you described. Thief King would be very happy to learn about Ryou because I think family is very important to him. Hense the revenge. Anyway, loved this. ::favorites::

abuseAbsolutely stunning. I could go through this line by line and not find a single thing to criticize, and that's a shock to me, because I'm by nature incredibly picky. The only thing I can even remotely complain about is that it's so mind-boggling (time discrepancies usually are), but I think that's a GOOD thing. Three cheers for well-written complexity!

The creativity in this is something I haven't seen in the Yu-Gi-Oh! section in a long time, if at all. The descriptions are incredibly vivid, the characterization is dead-on... look at me: I'm fangirling!

Ryou was actually being CLEVER (see: himself!), which is something I very rarely see in fanfiction. Thank you for showing off his strengths instead of making him out to be a little pansy.

Future-Bakura's holier-than-thou attitude was very well-done; maybe it's just me, but I find it incredibly hard to portray the level of arrogance that he has (possibly because of culture boundaries; when he says "ore-sama" in the original, I know that it's haughty, but I don't hear it the way a Japanese person would).

TKB's reactions were incredibly believable. He seems sane and insane almost at the same time (fine line between brilliance and insanity). I particularly liked your depiction of the relationship between him and the ghosts.

*rambles on and on* Definitely a fave, and I'll be flaunting it to all my YGO-fan friends. Love it.

abuse...I'm sitting here with wide eyes, trying to figure out how to put my enjoyment of and love for this story into words. "This is freaking GOOD!" is about all I can manage. I wish I could give you concrit, but that's difficult when I honestly cannot find anything wrong with it.

So I shall tell you what I liked! ^_^

-The touches. I've got a weakness for phantom hands tormenting people, but I rarely find something this descriptive. The line about the hands "curling around his intestines" made me shudder, and then I read the line again, because it was such a good shudder. You made me feel the hands, and that was scary and delicious.

-The way Ryou and Yami Bakura came into the story. No portals dropping them into Egypt for you, no sir! ^_^ The card was original, yet cards are so closely connected with canon that it was also completely believable.

-YOU USED THE RPG! People often forget about Bakura's fascination with trapping souls in things, but you did not, and-- *LOVE!*

-Everyone's speech fit their characters perfectly. The line, "Wasn't I handsome when I was angry, host?" made me laugh. XD And poor Ryou-- working so hard on a drawing only to have it start screaming at him! o_o; That would scare anyone (except perhaps Yami Bakura).

-"You gave that Item your blood and now it's waiting for you. Everything that happened since your father gave you the Ring? You have ensured it!" ...and there's another of those delicious shudders. Oh, the foreshadowing...But I feel happy for Bakura getting the Ring to work, and THAT is a turnaround from my usual feeling. I am cheering for the "bad" guy? o_O

Overall impression: GAH. BEAUTIFUL. Must make everyone read this. ^_^

abuseI loved it! It is really cool. But, there is still something i don't comprehend. What did it mean when Bakura said something about Ryou giving himself to Bakura? Is it the... you know.. the intimate part, or as in slave related thing? ^^ Keep up the awesome work! Hope to see the next one! ~Sunami~

abuseWow. This was absolutly amazing, and endearing as well. Excellent job blending the construction of the Dark RPG and the Thief King's separate existance.

I enjoyed the dialouge between the Bakurae, and how you kept up the in-fighting between Ryoh and the Ring Entity without completely alienating the Thief King. I look forward to any sequel you may plan, since this is marked "Chapter 1".

abuseYou know, I hadn't thought it was possible for a conversation between two psychopaths and a severely screwed up boy to be heartwarming, and keep them all in character, but somehow you've managed it.

abuseOh, wow. That was...incredible. I don't think I quite have the words to describe it. So very good. So very GOOD. I wish I could be a little more coherent. But I think you get the idea.
