I've always wanted to visualize what Karel's past battles were like, and it seems as if I don't need to do that myself anymore. One thing this story could use is elaboration and details. Providing good, vivid descriptions of the characters and surroundings would definitely improve this story. Slow down in critical moments - rushing through an important part of the story hurts the voice and style. Do this by providing insights into what the characters are thinking in these important moments, the reactions of the spectators (as Karel's battles are bound to be filled with spectators), more physical details. At the same time, avoid over-elaboration and flowery word choice - a terse, straightforward diction fits a Karel-centric story best. |
