Sad, but an interesting take. I'm glad it didn't happen this way, but can completely understand that it could've. I love the whisky. And the J/E.

For some reason this story doesn't seem complete. What happened next? Did they survive? Was Atlantis destroyed? Just a bit of Constructive Criticism, don't end stories on a cliff hanger like this, it just doesn't go off well. I like your story though, and you seem like an excellent writer.

That was great! Written so wonderfully. And such a sad ending. I felt a bit depressed but it was very fitting. Liked it. A lot.

Very, very good. Is that it? I hope not. I assume you're writing about 'Rising' and giving it your own twist. So are you making it an AU one-shot, where he doesn't end up going, or is this the first chapter before you have John decide to go with them?

Well, either way, this was a great read. Although personally I don't think he'd ever turn down a chance for adventure, unless there were some very serious circumstances involved, the reason you gave for him being hesitant about going sounds very good and realistic... or in character, or something. And you've written Elizabeth very well too.

Writing flowed nicely and it was just great. I don't know how else to say that. :)
