You did good handling the Karone/Zhane scene, and Sylvie refacing their hiding room.

I think I didn't manage it before, but while I don't usually buy the ran-away-from-grief scenario, you nearly made it work - because you spent so much time building Carlos' grief in the readers' mind, and only then came up with the story.

I promise to get back on your replies - i'll just do it all in batched form, otherwise we'll never get out of this.

O-kay... So either the Academy hired an external bodyguard, or Carlos has an extra agenda. That Cassie didn't react to what he said suggests that it's the former.

There seem to be a total of six intruders - that's all the names we've heard so far - adding to my comment from the previous chapter.

Three missing cadets? One was with Cassie and Ashley; and another missing one.

And the hints on what Carlos did are piling up. Hm.

I admit to not finding the break-in scenario plausible. Really. You don't get into a guarded facility and into said facility's weapon storage so easily. Not if the people who built the place had even the vaguest idea what they were doing, even if they've gotten slack since, unless you're that much more advanced than the people you're hacking into.

I see why you'd want it to work for the story, but - sorry. Plot hole here.
