abuseThe concept of this is good, but the result is didactic and falls flat. The message isn't convincing when it's so obvious that you're intending to school the reader in an inevitable conclusion. And Tonks is so immediately articulate about her objections once she bursts out that it leaves the reader wondering why on earth she ever even entertained this idea, never mind went through with it.

abuseWo, that worked better than it should. Uhm..I mean to say as awkward as the moment is and as twisted as the proclivity and as wretched as they both end up feeling, one for asking and the other for not having the balls (!) to say no to doing it, from a writer's standpoint, it's brilliantly played out.

ch 1,
abusethis is a neat sort of one-shotter and come to be expected, in it's own right: it's like watching segments of a person's life, or learning about them a bit at a time. it's fun to stick to one story-line and expand on that instead of trying to work in bigger plots when it isn't really necessary. and of course it's fun to keep coming back to the same characters.
is remus gay?

abuseOkay, this was meant to make me cringe and it certainly did. I wish Tonks had actually flatterned him but I realise it would have taken the edge off the total humiliation bit if she had. It's a powerful piece of writing and certainly says * you to anyone who thinks this is a reasonable way to explain R/T. Because it isn't. The only way to write this sort of stuff is to make a travesty of Lupin's character, degrade Tonks and insult Sirius. There are less revolting ways to get round R/T, even if I don't find them very convincing either.

You don't shirk from writing these challenging fics, do you?!

ch 1,
abuseI hate it when I read stories about Tonks turning into Sirius or Hermione or whatever. It isn't fair to her character or any other character for that matter. I mean really, who would put up with something like that? Especially Tonks.
And another thing while I am ranting, why does everyone insist Sirius and Remus are gay together? I didn't pick up on any vibes during any of the books. (Snape doesn't count because he is a vicious bitter bastard) People of the same sex can be friends without lusting after each other, or of different sexes for that matter. The only character I think is homosexual is Prof. Grubbly-Plank, and she is such a minor character I am surprised I picked up on it at all.
I was under the impression that Sirius and Remus weren't really even that close- not compared to Sirius and James at least. That probably caused a gap between them that they could never cross, especially with the uglyness of Peter betraying them and the two suspecting each other.
Well, I enjoyed it as always. At least you keep everyone in character, even if I think that this situation would never happen.
