"O certe necessarium Adae peccatum,
quod Christi morte deletum est!
O felix culpa,
quae talem ac tantum meruit habere Redemptorem!"

(It's Latin, from the Exultet of the Catholic Easter Mass - it reads, in English;

"O happy fault,
O necessary sin of Adam,
which gained for us so great a Redeemer!")

And I think this poem is a simply wonderful treatment of the subject. Other reviewers have commented on the nature of how Eve's Sin (and Adam's, of course) are necessary for the salvation of humanity. And, in many ways, sometimes we do see it like that.

But, you poem makes it VERY clear that it is not all good. I am reminded of the words of Elwin Ransom in C.S.Lewis' "Perelandra" regarding this; he says that yes, good will come of anything - for God can make use of anything - but not the original good that he wanted. That is lost and gone forever.

The structure of the poem is very effective; opening with the "If it had not happened" line and then moving along through a long list of how things would have been different. I love the way that even the "advances" of humanity (buildings and clothes) are not presented in a positive light, but rather as something we need.

I think the closing like "Not for us" is exquisite, it works on both the level of "the fruit is not for us" but also "the life without Sin is not for us any more, after what was done."

I really like this poem a great deal - I was just looking through the reviews for one of my pieces, and came across your name and went to see what you had done. I'm glad I did!

Adim and Eave? It's very pretty. I geuss we would be pure and inasent if it hadn't happened, but if it hadn't I wouldn't be able to read your betifull verse. Once again, you write beutifully, from your self.
