abuseI really wasn't expecting that to conclude so quickly; it seemed over just as it started. It's a legitimate idea that someone would try to copy Irene's murder in the hopes of getting off. It's exteremely disturbing that a father would brutally murder his own daughter over an argument. I would've liked to have seen a bit more detail and investigation into the case since this story was so short. Carl doesn't seem to be the type to give up easily. I do, however, love Carl's sarcasm here:
Kolchak sighed, furious. After several deep breaths, he asked, “Anything else? And please let it be better news than that.”
“Um…it’s not.”
“Fantastic. Do tell.”
Very much in character!

abuseThat was an excellent beginning. I haven't seen the new series, but your story still put me straight into Kolchak's world and, to a certain extent, his character.

abuseWoo! Yeah! Another 2005 Night Stalker story. Finally! -sniff- Now I don't feel so lonely. And please to not be intimidated by the length of this comment.

I loved your beggining. Totally Night Stalker-esq! I can't really say what issues you didn't address. Prologues (I think is what you meant) are usually good as attention catchers but I think your beggining with Jain watching the news worked well enough. Sometimes it's better to jump into a story. If there is something you need us to know or think before the story stars, then use a prologue.

One clever little trick I find both diobolical and fun is to have your prologue be a snippet from the most intense part of your story (say for example, someone about to be killed or someone being severely wounded) then have the story work up to it. Drives readers crazy and keeps them hooked. Really though, nothing in your beggining suggests the need for a prologue if you don't want one.

abuseI thought your story was very true to the new series. It was easy to picture the scenes in my mind because of the way you worded the story. I can't believe they cancelled the show. Thank goodness for fanfic. At least it can live on through writers like you.

abuseI REALLY like this story. You seem to have the tone of all the characters down REALLY well, as well as the tone of the show itself. Night Stalker has been one of my favorite shows (the only reason I turned on the TV, most often than not), so I'm VERY happy to see this story here. I hope to hear more things like this from you, soon!
