I like how you've set up this AU and I'm a Tamora Pierce fan as well :). I know it's just the first chapter, but I think you can be a little 'looser' with your interpretations of the characters. Sometimes, maybe unintentionally, you've used almost word-by-word descriptions of characters from the books, movies, or other fics and that's just a pet peeve of mine, nothing too big of a deal. On the other hand, I like Harry's perceptiveness in being aware of how he, Remus, and his country are viewed by others and already preparing to deal with it in his own way.

I'll wait for the next chapter before making any big judgments though, keep it up!
