This is the first LoK fic I've read. I don't normally like reading fiction for series I like as much as LoK but the lack of news relating to a new game has me depressed and interested in other people's take on the series.

So, if this first fiction I've read is anything to go by reading LoK fiction looks like it could be a good thing. I like the pace of the story and the subtle reference to Raziel. I understand that Kain would have known what Raziel was coming back with (having at access to Moebius' Chronoplast) but this story still made for an enjoyable read.

Perhaps I should look into your other LoK works.

This is remarkably well-written, and I like the concept a lot.

The only thing tha tbothers me is the implication that Raziel was killed as a result of Kain's anger over the flower... it's an interesting idea, to be sure, but it doesn't really ring true to me. You could make any argument for Kain being emotionless or not, but it's fairly indisputable that he is not so effected by his emotions as this fic seems to imply.

But please, do not take this as a fault! It's the nature of fanfiction that someone will disagree with one's interpretation of the source material, so that's nto a valid point to make in any criticism, in my opinion (it just stuck out to me, and I know if I didn't put it here I wouldn't stop thinking about it, lol). What matters is that this is remarkably well written, and you do a very good job of conveying Kain's thoughts, without resorting to drawling exposition. =)

i really liked this one. the use of words made it seem like i was reading a classic instead of a fanfiction... i also liked the flower and how kain treated it... this is definitely worth reading.

This was a great story. I love how Kain acted as if he were angry with the plant to keep from admitting his fondness of it. And when he regretted killing it was kinda sad. Poor Kain. He needs to get his feelings straight. The connection between Raziel and the little flower was absolutely superb. Keep it up!

This was very very good. I agree with DeeDee, the way you use analogies is so awesome, I don't think I've ever seen an author work with them the way you do.

Weird little sidenote: When I read your fic, I had to re-read it aloud to myself in an almost-whisper because the first time when I read silently, I felt like I was missing something. Reading it under my breath, it just felt like your words came to life and flowed so much better. It made it all that much more clear to me. You paint a very brilliant picture with your words here.

And it's good to see that you're still writing! I haven't seen you on Yahoo in ages; I miss talking to you, despite that you and I have only spoken two or three times. It's great to hear from you again.

I really appreciated this story. It gives insight to Kain's personality and to how he felt when Raziel showed him his wings. It was a great metaphor and I want to read more of your work.

Now, THIS is nice, very fitting and in charicter, though in a way that i havent seen before.
I have read most of your LOK stuff and adorded every word, (though i know i havent reviewed for most of it... time to fix a bad habbit lol) the descriptions and story stet up are always spectacular and of the quality that would like to reach and maintain. Looking forward to reading more of your work :P

Wow...That was...deep.
I liked it, it made me think.
Mostly about how the phrase "It's lonely, at the top." is true, if rather trite. All in all a well written piece. =^_^=

Ooh! This was unexpected - but such a wonderful surprise, although I’ve been getting a bit nostalgic meself recently… Anyway, on with the review!

I know I’ve said it before, but it’s true so I’m saying it again. You’re really good at this analogy stuff. You start to hint at possible links early enough in the piece for the casual reader to take it as coincidence, then build and build and build until we get that wonderful ‘oh no, I know what‘s coming‘ feeling. I loved the secret garden idea - that Kain was using dirty flagstones as an excuse to cultivate his rebellious little sapling, and the image of him on all fours playing with a flower is one I think I’ll take to the grave! The bickering in the background was very humorous, and offered a deceptive light point just before the flower-crushing incident. Oh that poor, poor little plant.

*sniff*

Oh god, VA. You’ve got me mooning over a PLANT… *scowls and stomps off to replay bouncy vamp games*

Ah! *smiles in satisfaction* such a lovely subtle little tale. I loved your descriptions, one of your considerable writing strengths in my opinion. I loved the way you parallel Kain's attitude to that plant with his attitude to his sons.
The flower itself is a lovely idea, I particularly liked the hint that it is nurtured by blood as well as by water. When it opens up and its six petals are exactly the same colour as Raziel's wings... well, we just know what's coming next. I very much enjoyed your take on why.
