Yes, I *quite* like this little fic -. The lines about Kenshin being "only a child" and "Quiet. Simple. That was his way," really tore at me. After reading volume 20 of the manga, of all the powerful effects that Watsuki evoked, what really lingered was how childlike, and kind-spirited, Kenshin was. I like the way you've conveyed that impression through his companion's eyes.

The day Kenshin started his life as a wanderer... I didn't think anyone witnessed this event, but it's fitting that Katsura and Ushiro did.

You know you had my heart at "he left us"! That whole idea-of the group Kenshin didn't realize were "his people", of the way the group could never be any kind of home for him, of the friendship with Ushiro that he couldn't see or accept.

And then the image of him "sinking his blade into the soil". Such a final gesture-I can just see the shot from the OVA.

lol it's okay, haitus are sometimes unavoidable. an upcoming move? where from/to? i know how that can go, it's stressful, especially if you only find out just befor the move like i did. make sure that you have a notebook with you at all times during the move, i had gotten a bazillion fic ideas when i moved and i lost them all becuase i didnt have a place to scribble them down. good luck
