Another excellent chapter... I really enjoyed your revelation of what Jack told Nina at the end of their last meeting in S2... As a result I ended up rereading Never Change Faces... Keep up the good work... Especially if you have a sequel to NCF!

Keep up the good work... Your insights into two very different people is astonishing.

2006-01-11 . chapter 12
This chapter is one of my three favorites so far - the other two are Part 1 and Part 11. I loved seeing Nick worrying about Nina - although it wasn't like that per se, you could tell he was :P Nina deserves to have someone else take care of her for a change, instead of always having to take care of herself!

But what I liked most was seeing Nick prove to both of them that Nina was still human. That she still had emotions. Nick was completely confident, which I think surprised Nina - she's more used to people thinking that she's soulless, but Nick seems to see something else in her. So that was very satisfying.

Great work!

Poor Nina, we know how much she hates to show her weaknesses. Passing out like that can't help her ego! ^_^

Nick is becoming more and more awesome each chapter. I almost cheered when Nina saved him :P The irony! I love the way he can't seem to stop himself from helping Nina and playing these games with her. It's almost like Jack/Nina, the mind games, which might explain why I like seeing them interact so much.

And seeing him get to Nina was awesome :) Not just anyone can! I think the only times we ever saw her really lose her cool were on the stairwell in Visalia, when Jack railed her about killing her colleagues at CTU ('Shut up, Jack! Just shut up!'), and when Jack had her at gun point in season three ('I don't want to die'). So that was interesting.

Another Nick/Nina encounter! Things got very interesting in this chapter :) I must say that my favorite line in this chapter and possibly the whole fic was:

“No. Not because you didn’t kill me. See, Nina, that’s the difference between us. As a decent human being, I don’t walk around feeling I have to express my gratitude to everyone who didn’t kill me.”

That made me laugh, but I also started to compare him to Nina in terms of sarcasm :P He really is a lot like Nina, minus the whole fugitive bit - although I'm fairly certain at this point that he's the one who rescues her in the last chapter of Never Change Faces.

Anyway, excellent chapter!

I remember that the first time I read this chapter the thing that I noticed first was that it was no longer two different stories - they had merged into one again and you pulled that off flawlessly. Well done!

Both Nina and Nick here are written perfectly - Nina is completely in character! Nick seems to be unable to resist Nina ^_^ But who can? And the fact that he's so psychologically smart makes their relationship even more interesting, the mind games that they can play with each other.

I found it interesting the way he chose to confide in her. She seems to have that effect on people - in season three, the infamous 10th episode, Jack seemed to do the same thing when he told her how he had to give the Salazars his 'soul'. He probably tried to convince himself that he only did it to maintain his cover but it sounded to me like he really needed to get it out! Nick seems to be the same way, and that makes him even more interesting.

Nina's portion of this chapter was interesting. I can't tell who she's meeting, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be able to or not! :P But yeah, it's nice to see that Nina didn't shy away from the world of espionage and terrorism for too long...^_^

With Nick, we begin to see where he is in his life, and you did such a good job portraying his uncertainty and fear of where he's going and what he's done. I normally don't like OC's but Nick is definitely one that I could fall for! w00t!

Okay, first of all, I'm sorry I haven't been reviewing! My pop up blocker has been spazzing out, and it won't let me review. Ila just sent me the link though, so w00t!

Anyway. No worries about the lack of J/N encounter, I loved the way you handled the aftermath instead. Just Nina's thoughts. I loved the way that nothing was really even happening yet you accomplished so much. And Nick's storyline begins to get more and more intruiging! I've read all of the chapters at this point but I do remember this one as the part where I began to invest myself more into his plotline and character.

Excellent! I can't wait to see Nina and Jack's encounter, that will be excellent. Nina was great, as always, in this chapter. I could totally picture her satisfied reaction!

Looking forward to updates!

I like how you have Nina playing people so well, very much what I would expect from her. Keep up the good work!

Oh, God, I got so upset at the idea of them torturing Nina! ^_^ But you handled it beautifully, as always. I was glad to see Nick again, he's cool.

I was surprised when it seemed like Nina 'broke' - but of course she never could, really. That part where she was talking to her interrogator was fantastic! You once again capture her perfectly.

Cannot WAIT for the next part!
