It would've been nice to see a fem slash fic, but yeah, you're right-Hermione at 16 isn't ready for that yet. Sexuality is seldom discussed in stories about teenagers, even though they're at the right age for their hormones to start acting up. Hermione's confusion is well portrayed, as is Rita's kinkiness (yes, I'm hentai enough to like those kinky bits).
