Excellent retelling of the last scenes. I especially liked the double-image of the rose petals (I always found it funny in the movie how they always had them strewn across the coliseum grounds) and droplets of blood. The last part, about him and Cicero being equals, was oddly touching...I dunno why. But it was. I just saw the movie yesterday, and it was excellent, as was your fic. Great job!

Kinda depressing, but nicely written. Now, I know that homosexuality was perfectly normal in the Roman era, and it isn't shocking anymore either, but do Maximus and Cicero always have to have some sexual deal between them? That's what it hints at, and it's getting annoying. Not just this story mind, it's most of the others.

Who says short fics can't be meaningful? Wonderful emotion packed in a small space. I commend you. Well done!
