 Odysseus 2006-05-14 . chapter 1 To JasonC65, regarding:
"Ad Odysseum: Bene revisti! Gratias ago. Curiosus sum quantum tibi esset gaudium hanc fabulam in classe legere et quid arbitraretur magister de ea. Ego possum tantum imaginari magistrum explicare gerundium supinumque debere quia classis illis rebus nondum studuisset, et illos risus immaturos quos discipuli magistro desinente haberent."
Um, I think I know what your review said, but I'm not sure. Mostly on the second sentance. But I'll stagger along. :D
Well, the class liked the idea when I mentioned it, but onlyl one of them had ever really heard of the concept of FanFiction. The one who had was shocked at the notion of FanFiction in Latin, but thought it would be cool. (If only more people would write some...) Our teacher was exstatic. I know she's heard of FanFiction because one of her sons is really into it. He actually came into the room just as we were stopping and said something like "Wow, mom, you NEVER look at fanfiction!" I think he thought that he might have ... well, converted her, so to speak. I wonder if she went and looked for more Latin fanfiction later ... hm.
All right ... second sentence ... quid est "rebus"? Is it "words"? Uh, and is "risus" ... smile? Well, only one student in the class is really immature. Let's see, there are two fifth graders, one eight grader, one tenth grader (I think) and me! But I also think Latin is a mature language. O.O don't really know why, but I do. Our class uses Cambridge Latin Course. It's the best course, in my opinion, but then - I've never learned from any other, so I can't really compare.
Anyway, back to what I was saying, there's only one immature person, one of the fifth graders. I think ... said person (AAH! I'm giving up on my attempt to hide everyone's gender. internet spies ... *glares*) so, he was the only one making jokes and stuff. loudly. *sigh* The rest of the class enjoyed it and didn't say anything, really.
And you mention the gerundive and the supine? We've only just got to the gerundive. I'm not sure what supine is. Our book is not very grammar intensive, so it's possible I've been seeing it and translating it without knowing what it is. I have no idea. Also something about people not doing their homework? Little hazy right there, it's a really long sentance ... scary.
Oops, got to go. |

Odysseus 2006-04-06 . chapter 1 Well, I'm much too lazy to leave a review in Latin (but at least I'm honest), so I'll just hope that you know English. Well, I saw this story a while ago, and I looked at it briefly, but I didn't have much time, and I didn't really get much past the author's notes.
Recently I mentioned this story in my Latin II class, and the teacher told me to find it so our class could read it. I knew where it was, and so the class began to read. Most of the class (there are only four other students besides me) had seen at least the new movie of Narnia, and so knew something about the story line.
When the teacher is reading it, putting the words into the order that you would use them in English, and translating about half of it for you, it's pretty easy to understand. We read until the word "impregnare" and then the teacher decided to stop. Oh, well. It's only rated "T", though ...
I found that it's much harder for me to go through on my own and read it and understand it. So I've read most of it. It's very well done, and well written. Very high level of Latin! :)

 001ElvenWarrior 2006-04-04 . chapter 1Optissime! Bene! Amabam id!
How long did it take you to write this story? It was awesome - and very refreshing - perhaps I should try doing something similar. Eheu! Ei mihi! O me miserum! Where do I begin? It was very very very good :D
I look forward to reading more of your Latin stories. Write more - though I know they take time to write and translate.

invaderoperaghost 2006-03-01 . chapter 1Fabula est ridiculus! Id amo! Nunc omnes fabulae legere non possum quod ego fessa sum.
By the way, is "disclamatio" really the word for "disclaimer"? My dictionary doesn't list it and lists "infitiatio" as the word for disclaimer. It could be wrong though.
Anyway...
Fabulam bene scribis!
Vale! |
tintinnabulation 2006-02-11 . chapter 1You're right, of course; I can barely even understand the title, never having learned Latin. My little sister took a class in it for a while, and this is as much as she taught me... Cave canum! And of course that's entirely irrelevant. :)
It's still very, very funny to see fanfiction in Latin. |

Mrs. Tumnus 2006-01-01 . chapter 1WOW. Kudos to you for writing in Latin. An ENTIRE story in latin. I can read it all right but when writing I always get the ablative and the accusative mixed up for some reason. You have my full and undying respect. *bows down to your awesomeness* |
