This was really good. Don't listen to the reviewers who say that depriving children of a 'proper' family unit is wrong. Children can thrive with two moms or two dads. One of my best friends has two moms and is coming along great.

This is really interesting... Speaking from the perspective of a straight Christian with a lesbian-Christian best friend, this struck close to home with me. Great job!

I have to say that this was a brilliantly executed story. One could almost believe that it was a short story in a true book. ;)

I, in fact, believe that people shall be allowed to do what the want. My beliefs lie in nothing and no one, and my thought process is that nothing and no one is perfect.

I hold no religion, and am pleased to see Sean is unlike many of the Christians at my school. Many at my school, as I just implied, treat other religions horribly, embracing several things that I have no wishes to repeat.

While I hold no religion, I have good reasons to-

1. I do not believe, and doing something that you don't believe in is wrong, and gives other reason to call you a Hypocrite.

2. Many of the 'laws' are flawed and wrong, creating bad thoughs in the minds of some.

Reason number two has a perfect example (or a few): Prussian Blue (band) and Hitler (I'd hope you know who he is...).

Now, I believe that I have gone on for far too long, and I bid you farewell...as well as a re-instated congratulations.

Oh Sam, I must say... get a life. People are sick to death of that tired old line of crap that "religious people" are responsible for all the problems in the world... it's absolutely false. It's the long-standing battle cry of people who reject religion... reject the revelation of God and what he has commanded us to do as relgious people... and desperately want to find some way to justify themselves.
Anyone who cares enough about FACTS to actually check out these venomous claims soon realizes that the evidence is not there... it's just a load of ultra-nasty bigotry, motivated mainly by the unacknowledged but very real guilt of those who do not embrace God's holy revelation and the commands therein.
Religious people are flawed, like everyone else, because they are people, and only God is perfect. But Christianity, as the divinely revealed faith, has brought more good into the world than all other non-Christian forces combined.
Sam, you need to get past your ingrained prejudices and false perceptions, and actually start learning things about the world... the sincere and steadfast search for truth is the best means of overcoming ugly bigotry.

Regarding this story, the comments made by Pacee_86 and VandersLil and Sara and Wyndrixx and a couple of others... all together cover most of the main points, so I won't repeat it all here.
A person sincerely concerned with truth and goodness would carefully heed these words of wisdom. God bless.

VandersLil said it all...

I think you meant to do something nice here, but your notion of "decent people" is terribly lacking and only obscures the tragedy of where such thinking leads.

God help us.

Love it, well written... my sensai and her wife have many kids between them... with all the domestic abuse and unwanted pregnancies it seems to me heterosexual relationships are no better than homosexual. I have a boyfriend, and many have said 'homos are promiscuous... they don't have the commitment we do as hets thus we are better' well hasn't it occured to anyone that if we were allowed to marry and formalize our relationships you would see committment no less or differant than any other married couple.

Kudos on a great story.

Amazing story.

2006-03-01 . chapter 1
The male and the female, the mother and the father, are designed to complement each other. Each one is essential for the healthy development of a child, because they serve to complement each other in a most beautiful, amazing and profound manner. It is God's design, and to deliberately trash it for the sake of fulfilling one's own selfish demands is truly abhorrent.
Children are not consumer products. No one has a "right" to one just because they can pay whatever price is required.
A child is a precious human soul unto himself or herself; a soul who must be cherished, and whose needs must be placed above all other considerations; a soul that must be nourished and developed with utmost of care and attention.
This requires a male parent and a female parent, a mother and a father. We, male and female, are designed to complement each other in life, and no more so than in the raising of children. The importance of this reality cannot be overstated.
If a mother or a father is missing from a family because of tragedy, the child is aware of this fact. The child is aware that no one deliberately deprived him or her of that right, simply for their own selfish purposes. A child can accept this absence, and can accept the fact that other relatives will, in part, fill the male or female void that is left.
The lack of a mother or a father because of self-centeredness is never fully accepted by a child, and this loss is deeply felt an profoundly affects every aspect of a child's life.
To inflict this upon a child deliberately is terrible cruelty.
In the past few decades, we have become a society that worships at the altar of self fulfillment, even at the expense of the most vulnerable members among us. It is a tragedy beyond words, and unless we pull ourselves back from this cult of self-obsession, we will destroy ourselves, as has every society before us which forgot what it means to be "civilized". To be civilized means that the weakest and most vulnerable are protected and provided for in the very best way possible, first and foremost, and everything else comes after.
We have forgotten this and and have fallen into monumental self-indulgence and self-worship, choosing to believe that the weak and vulnerable should adapt to our own personal demands. Evil behaviour such as this is whitewashed by trite euphemistic phrases about politically correct "tolerance".
Not everything should be "tolerated".
Evil should not be tolerated.
Abusive treatment of children should not be tolerated.
The destruction of the family, the foundation of society, should not be tolerated.
The dismantling of God's divine plan should not be tolerated.
We have to pull ourselves back into reality, and truly become "civilized" again.

I started reading because your author's note piqued my interest and ended wishing more 3-D people did this sort of thing without going at each other's throats. Two thumbs up.

Good story, I liked it. By the way though, one is not born being "gay" or "straight". I myself was openly bisexual and agnostic for several years, before I first believed in Jesus. I realize now that the biggest reason I thought I was bi is because of the media's influence and how people now accept that kind of life style, and even encourage it. It's very easy to get confused.

Actually... I think some people made some very good points.
They certainly had a lot more to offer than the self-righteous hatred of an anti-Christian bigot.

This story has good intentions, but it fails to address some very significant considerations. It's good that there are people willing to take the time to point this out.

Wow, these reviews just reek of self-righteousness. But what can you expect from Christians?

I have to say that Wyndrixx is absolutely right. You cannot ignore God's divine plan, and deliberately deprive children of having a mother and a father and a family unit, and truly believe that there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing more evil that deliberately abusing a child's welfare with your own selfish choices. But so many people are so very, very self-absorbed in this day and age, that they will not admit that there is anything more important than their own ego-driven whims and desires. Not even the protection of children.
It's Christmas. Let us never forget that God Himself made sure that His Son had both an earthly mother and an earthly father, a true family unit, as every child deserves. Always, the family of Jesus, mother and father and child, was together as a unit. There is no better example of what we should all strive to maintain for all children.
The results of broken homes are real, and they are everywhere. Our society is disintegrating. A true knowledge of history will tell anyone this in an instant. God, please help us stop it.
No child should be deliberately deprived of this most important of rights, any more than a child should be deliberately deprived of an arm or a leg or an eye... although even these are no comparison to the harm done to a child by parental selfishness. There truly is no comparison. Study your history, everyone. Study. Read. Learn. We are destroying our children, and eventually our society, with our selfishness. Pray that God will help us. Because "there are none so blind as those who will not see".
