This is exactly what I expected to happen at the end of the movie, and if I'm going to be honest, what I hoped for. I mean, just imagine if it had ended like that; it would have worked perfectly.

too bad it didnt actually end that way. but this was very well written- i loved brokeback mountain. this was very beautifully detailed. i liked it a lot. favorites.

And for that I hate you and love you at the same time. This is a beautiful piece. Like. Beautiful. At first I was leery because it was so short. But hey, short is sweet and Annie Proulx's original short story was short to begin with so XD;

Yes. This is SO beautiful. I really like how you mentioned that it WASNT all about the sex >_> For god's sake, no one mentions that their love ran so much deeper TT__TT Much deeper. Your use of words was wonderful. Not too much. I know I read this fanfic of Brokeback a few days ago and ... it was far too wordy. I was expecting the more simplistic, the more... informal words. And I got it here. Not too much. ^_^; Very wonderful. Keep up the good work, and I hope this causes more people other than myself to bawl (btw, I had to stay inside the theater when I saw the movie for ten minutes because I was so unpresentable and tear stained and such. T__T I may cry in everything, but this deserved it *nod*)

Thank for this!! I saw the movie on opening day and loved it. I came on here hoping someone would have started writing their take on the story. Will there be more? I hope so! Too many of us have regrets and stories like this should shake us out of them, keep us from doing or not doing things we'll later regret. BTW I live in the city where the movie shoot was based.

Wonderful last line. However, I feel like this attitude of love being so well shown as attachment is closer to Jack than Ennis. While I do believe that someone like him could be driven to change his mind (especially in a fan fiction story), I still think that their relationship is more than about love. For Ennis, especially, power dynamics would most definetely be huge. He might even have felt some sort of enjoyment in being able to thwart Jack's desires, even though he would be ashamed of himself for it. Most of what I'm writing though, is my own thoughts upon the story and I'm rambling. Thanks for posting this though. Beautiful use of words, a fitting tribute to a beautiful short story.
