I just love the quiet contemplative tones of Hikaru's father.

Oh, this is very cute. The manga and the anime showed next to nothing of what Hikaru's parents thought of him being a go pro. I haven't really found any fics that dealt with this particular issue so it was nice to read something like this.

I was a bit iffy about it, but the title is what REALLY caught my eye. The story doesn't really show Hikaru's dad much, which leaves him to interpretation. A well written story, and an interesting interpretation. Great job.

We never know much about Hikaru's father. I like how you convey how Hikaru becoming mature and the father miss that.

I was always bothered in the series by how little we learn about Hikaru's parents. Aside from a few brief mentions on how little his mother understands the game, they really don't play much of a role at all in the series. I really enjoyed this fic because I think it was a believable way of incorporating his father into the story. I also thought the line "My son was all grown up, and I had missed it." was absolutely beautiful. Hope to read more from you in the future!

Really, though, I love this fic. Getting to see Hikaru though his father's eyes was interesting, and very... wistful, I think. Though it ended on a hopeful note, which I really liked. Wonderful piece! ^^

Scanning randomly through the HnG section, I fortunately came across your fic. We're very few to write about Hikaru's father, and your choice of POV is the most original — if not unique. In a neat style, you perfectly conveyed how an absent father must feel, realizing how much of his son's childhood he has missed.
