| Randa 2005-12-16 ch 1, anon. | abuseI've read your other two fics, "Deadline" and The Lights Went Out in Georgia". Both are excellent!! This was a nice change of pace from the drama and danger you have twiced placed the boys into in your writings. I don't know which was scarier--drug dealers threatening to hang them or them almost falling into the dam and suffering from hypothermia. Here the only danger was homesickness, and I don't mean to downplay that because it can certainly hurt. Anyway, I LOVE the sweetness and sniffliness (I KNOW that's not a word, but it made me sniffle a few times; so, I'm gonna use it anway) of this fic. Perfect for the Christmas season, and it was a nice touch to set it during the boys' fifth season departure. I like how you relate episode plotlines to your fics. Here the Coy/Vance era. In "Deadline", You brought back Jud. Quite creative. Fav. parts were as follows: Luke's "You got somethin' all right...hopin' it ain't catching" (heehee--Luke'd say that all right). As a born and bred Georgia gal, I LOVE the "Southern grit" and the boys' whining about the cold. I live in the northern part of GA, and we get cold. We get snow from time to time too (even on Christmas on a few occasions, but we really don't have a clue what Winter is all about like y'all up North do. And like the boys, I'm not too fond of the cold either. BLAH! After Christmas, I'm ready to jump straight to Spring (heehee). I think they need 3 things: Heat, food, AND family. I LOVE that they send the money they make back home, and I'm not surprised either. That's why we love'em in the first place. It's their wonderful combination of integrity, manners, and compassion that keep people interested in this series 2 decades after it left the air. Good looks, blue eyes, and roguish charm don't hurt their case either, but those wouldn't matter without the substantive qualities. I LOVE Petey and Cale playing Santa to get the boys back home for Christmas. They're just darlin' to do that. Daisy's walk down memory lane and chat with Jesse is GREAT especially threatening to throw naughty and noisy children to the goats (heehee). I like the mention of homemade ornaments too. My parents' tree still has a few of mine, and I know my mother wouldn't take a mint for them; even though, I'm almost thirty. Daisy crying in Jesse's arms is sweet and sniffley (Yep, there's that word again) too. Luke and Bo fightin' over the marshmallows is good too (heehee--Those boys are still big kids at heart). More sniffles for the boys' homesickness. Poor babies!! The "Are we or are we not NASCAR drivers?" is GREAT too (heehee--I wouldn't want to be on the road in Indianapolis about now). YEA!! Now they're home. More sniffles for the welcome home scene. Bo's "playful gallantry" is good and in character. I can see that moment playing out in my head. "Steer[ing] clear" of Boss is good; Don't want to ruin his entire holiday (Well, maybe a smidgen...Yeah, I'm naughty; I'm gonna get coal from Santa this year--heehee). The discussion about family togetherness being better than presents is good, and I LOVE the ending with the boys and Daisy singing, and Jesse wishing Jesus "Happy Birthday" and thanking Him for bringing his family back together for Christmas. I can see that playing out in my head too. Thank You Flynne for this VERY nice early Christmas present!! Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas from GA!! Write more fics soon!! Bye!! |
| Ashti 2005-12-16 ch 1, | abuse*CHEERS* Merry Christmas! And thank you for the story! :D *tosses glitter at you* That sure hit the spot. ^__^ The Coy and Vance thing works out remarkably well, actually. And the NASCAR guys seem like a great set of guys. Glad Bo and Luke got to spend some time with them. :) Even though I'm more glad they got to spend Christmas at home ;) Thanks for a lovely story :D |

| Jordyn D. 2005-12-15 ch 1, | abuseI LOVE that story... so sweet. |
| GrayWolf84 2005-12-15 ch 1, | abuseThat was so sweet! I never thought about the boys being gone for the holidays when they were with NASCAR. I love the Southerner/winter commentary (“You know, for all that famous Southern grit I keep hearing about, you guys sure are wusses when it comes to winter,”) - I'm a hardcore Mainer myself, and that's one of my top amusements about southern folks. And they send all thier money home! Such good boys. And ** picked them up at the airport. This was great! Thanks! |
| fanficfan 2005-12-15 ch 1, anon. | abuse"Are we or are we not NASCAR drivers?" hahah WHAT A GREAT STORY! I loved reading it. You're a really talented writer, and this story was so cute. Action/adventure fics are my favorite, but this type is great once in a while, especially one as good as this. I can't wait to read your next fic. Please post one soon! |
