really nice story, love it.

I can't really see Elizabeth with anyone but Caldwell. Of course, try telling that to a John/Elizabeth shipper...but just watching the interaction between Elizabeth and Caldwell...it's SO FREAKIN OBVIOUS.
Stumbled across this whilst searching for Weir/Caldwell pairings...this is well-written, and love the chess idea. Excellent work.

Great job. Love this pairing and the use of the chess scene. Sequel?

I'm quite surprised that this story only has nine reviews (mine being the tenth), as it seems to have won first place on the Isis Awards for secondary ships. And I have to say, they couldn't have done a better job choosing a winner. I find the dynamic between Elizabeth and Steven in this fic to be very true to form, from the slight ribbing, to the tension and differences they deal with because of their different backgrounds.

Found this story through the Isis Award nominations. I love it! I find the whole Caldwell/Weir dynamic so fun, and I swear it's not just because I have a crush on Mitch P. from way back in the X-Files days! I love the use of the chess game here because it works on several different layers. I like that he wants them to be enemies only on the chessboard. Me too, Steven. Me, too. Heh. Nice job. :)

Very well one! I like the subtly.
I've love to read more.

This story is so cute! I loved that scene in Conversion. But you wrote this well, and I think you got their characters down. I especially like the way you wrote Caldwell. continue!

I like this one.
There's some closure added by this fic between the two characters and it's done in a somewhat subtle manner. Your rendition of Caldwell makes him a very likable antagonist. Nice Job. _

An excellent fic! When Caldwell first came on the scene, I thought the two actors had excellent chemistry. And, in the deep recesses of my mind, I realized that a romance was not entirely out of the question. There are times when I like Caldwell and times when he drives me absolutely insane and makes me want to punch him right in the face. (i.e. 'Conversion) Now, I'm a ShepWeir person (occasionally McWeir), but I like seeing this pairing. It's something new.
And it was written beautifully. You have an amazing gift for capturing the characters. Really, this is one of the best one-shots I've read in a while.
