How many people do you know who call their kid 'son' instead of their name or - rarely - some logical endearment like 'silly' or something? Frankly, it sounds like it's either from the 1800s or something Uncle Vernon would say with fake heartiness to his son Dudley in the Harry Potter books. Don't get me wrong; I adore your stuff, but as great as 'son' may sound when you're writing it, reading it is another matter, and it just comes off /weird/. |
