I've been interested in Kuja's character for some time now, and this story really took me inside his head. The idea that there were other Genomes similar in appearance to him makes sense, though I didn't think about it until now. Interesting to see the beginnings of his narcissism and how his pride in being different led to his lust for power. I think there could have been some subtle mention of his thoughts in relation to immortality, even though it doesn't seem like it was really an issue at the time. On the whole though, Kuja seemed much more human than artificial here.

On a side note, I couldn't help but feel sorry for Zidane, but he was meant to live on Gaia anyway.

What delight to read such a well structured portrayal of Kuja's existence. Despite having a love for Zidane's character, the way you turned the point-of-view actually had me sympathizing with with his enemy enough to loath the younger genome's unintentional 'taunts'. Moreover, the ideas you have presented are unique. Yes, it does make sense there would be more than one of Kuja's kind, since he was a test. Oh, and the way he killed the other gold genomes made my heart tighten.

It is possible for this to happen way before Kuja decides to destroy Gaia on his own. And Genomes don't really care much about their looks right?

I bow down to you in humble admiration and declare that "Silver and Gold" beats the crap out of whatever I was attempting to write in my own words. I LOVE how you write Kuja, and you explained everything about him so thoroughly! Not only do you have a great imagination, but you also have a remarkably strong grasp of the whole FF9 timeline and magical system. I especially liked the exploration of Kuja's narcissism and egotistical defenses...the scene where he finally cleans himself up, giggling and gleefully repeating his name, gave me *chills,* it was so good. I could envision everything as he descended into his own personal madness. And the metaphor that makes the title...genious! Please, keep writing! _
