Aw...sweet. I remember this one. Angsty forum drabbles...ah, those were the days! Anyhow, good characterisation of Antauri as he isn't always the easiest character to write. I'm especially glad that you included his wry humour at one point, OI believe it was when he was recalling how Chiro began his path of becoming a hero? The statues were a nice mecahism for allowing the children's focus to go over to the past and like the way you didn't just use it to get on to the whole 'recollection' thing and never mention it again; no, you got the little kids to interact with it by touching it and presenting how the story had moved them.
I'm not totally happy with the whole reincarnation part though, it seemed to lesser the whole impact of how Antauri had made Choiro and Jinmay an immortal part of his heart, especially since he is the one monkey to fully understand the finalty of death. It just seemed to defy the whole point of berivement and how their memories would live on while their bodies could not. But that's just me. Nobody else seems to care so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
