I could feel his hopelessness and it almost moved me to tears, his loneliness and empty feeling without the woman he loves by his side. Whatever he may say about Kiemi, he himself liked Mei at least once, so why should he try wrecking his son's happiness. Anyways, I wasn't really sure if Hao would jump up and down with joy literally (more expected him to pick her up and twirl her around), but I had a good time imagining it.
