Wow! A very nice blast from the past. While not a particular fan of the TV series, I do remember watching a number of episodes as a kid and as far as I can recall your characterization of Simon Templar was spot on. (I also saw at least one movie, but I don't remember it very well at all.) I'd love to see a sequel to this, with an elderly Simon being very surprised to discover that past tense references aren't automatically a eulogy. ("From the way you spoke, I thought I'd be dead by now." "To be honest sir, I thought you were." ;) )

Lovely story. I didn't even connect up where you were going with all that until the very end. Much fun.
