i'm not sure if you'll actually get this but gotten back into dbz recently and this is the most amazing fanfic i think i've ever read! i'm not usually one to read more than 3000 words on fanfic but i actually read this all the way through to the end

i think your writing was really good as well as the whole plot. i reckon you kept the characters really well in character too!

i also think it's cool how there wasn't any yamucha bashing or anything. a lotta bulma/vegeta fics do that

thanks for such an awesome bulma/veggie fic - i always wondered what had happened between them...

Amazing. You have captured their characterizations perfectly. This was one of the most realistic, honest, and true to form B/V fics I've ever read. I love how you've dealt with Vegeta's past, because it's made him what he is, it's messed him up; Frieza destroyed a lot of him. I'm glad you didn't underplay that.

I also loved the comparisons to Vegeta's childgood with Trunks'; the similarities are defintitely there. And on an off note: even if Goku defeated Frieza, it was ultimately Vegeta's son who killed him. That's got to count for something; and something I've been thinking of for the past few days actually.

Very well done story. Thank you so much.

Whenever I do decided to review, it's always hard to find a starting point; "what should I rave about first?" I want to voice my ONLY complaint first:

My only complaint (a tiny one) is that I felt Bulma cried a little too much.

Ok now, now for the good stuff:

I loved the length! Usually, I'll just read one shots because I find that authors can't keep the same tone and flow in a story for too long before the story sounds redundant and mediocre. But you! You managed a whole 13 chapters while keeping me absolutely entertained!

I loved how you kept true to the story line. Many other authors deviate from the events that occurred in DBZ or ignore certain chronological facts. Not that they don't have a creative license but I like my DBZ to stay as canon as possible, and you did! I found myself saying, "that is totally how that would have happened" at certain parts of the story. I liked how some of your dialogue was even found in the actual episode of the story; that was a really nice touch.

But most of all, I LOVED your writing style. You must be an English major or graduate because it screams "writing expertise". You had such varied vocabulary and it seemed almost poetic at times. This little excerpt really blew me away:

"Such beautiful lies he adroitly weaves, with the touch of lips and caress of hand, lulling me into mute obsequience. These adeptly fashioned falsehoods, bright insubstantial tapestries of dream and thought, are not meant to last beyond the night, and are carelessly unraveled by a single thread when the dawn arises. He promises the world without saying a word, hinting at forever but voicing nothing aloud. And imagined pledges are never binding."

You have created art in written form.

This is the best story I have ever read! You have made a wonderful this!I'm really amazed.I have read this story many times, and I can't stop reading it.Your style is very good. The emotions are real,I could feel every moment of this story.Vegeta was the best.I think it's very hard to write a V/B story,if you don't want to be OOC,and discribe their feeling in an adult way,but you ngratulations!

Pretty good so far. I hope Bulma perks up soon, she's much less entertaining a character when she's feeling sorry for herself and has good reason to be.

WAUW! Words simply do NOT *Suffice* to describe this perfect portrayal of Poetically POIGNANT prose that sits as far above from ur regular B/V get- together- fic, As a Diamond amidst a sea of coal! This is a Gem of sheer BRILLIANCE that deserves words of praise far above my abilities to express, the full extent of the COMPELLING Characterizations, the Heart-Breakingly Beautiful & Drool-worthy depictions of scenes just as easily able to bring to one’s eyes a flood of tears, as they were to fry one’s brain from the deviously Delicious images peppered throughout this SUPERB Story, Not to mention the fact that the way the Soul-Shattering emotions were made so REAL to the readers, it felt like one was living through the (Expertly kept in) Character’s rollercoaster ride of emotions , themselves. Which Adds levels to this SUBLIME story that makes it nothing short of a MASTERPIECE of Ingenuity!-!-!

So Ur simply going to have to believe me, when I say: I COULDN’T Possibly express in words, my LOVE for this Wonderfully WELL written work of FABULOUS Fiction _! & my ADORATION for Ur ADDICTIVELY Amazing & Completely CAPTIVATING characters ;D ! Instead I’d like to Congratulate U on the Creation of A World so bewitching & yet Realistic, that from now on, I have no choice but to consider it CANON & I am grateful to U for sharing with us -dbz fan girls- ur Awe-Inspiring Talent, for I shall Always carry this ENCHANTING epic with me in my heart _!-!-!

P.S. I realize you haven’t posted anything for a Really long time now, but if u do ever find ur self nostalgic for the old school charm of the good ol’ -dbz- gang, PLEASE let me know at: amelia_1987 @ yahoo. com ! _ So that I can come bother u with some more Random Rambling/Ranting/Raving/ALL of the above disguised as an Actual Review! ;P

*Gives u the Patented-Pleading-Eyes-Bulma-Look, topped off with the Tm-U-Know-U-WANT-To-Vegeta-Smirk!-!-!* _

*NOTE- I copied this review that I wrote you in email, just in the event that you may be using a different email address.

I just finished reading "Unexpected" in one very long but absolutely enjoyable sitting. I had to tell you, before I did anything else, how grateful and very appreciative I am that you not only decided to write this story and complete it, but also to share it with fellow fans. You've written, what I consider to be, a hope diamond in the DB fan fiction world. Within my own sphere, I consider "Unexpected" to be one of the best stories I've read, stretching across many titles, fan fiction and not.

The story of Vejita and Bulma is one that is obviously very delicate- it takes the right kind of person with the right kind of writing abilities to portray their relationship, their story in a believable, personable, yet satisfying light. You did that... and so much more. The story was suggested to me via "Another Bulma/Vegeta story with a slight twist. Something unexpected changes their perception of each other (and Yamucha actually isn't a cheating jerk). Not A/U, but not your typical get-together, either..." Lol... the description doesn't do "Unexpected" justice. I settled onto my couch with notebook in lap, doubting that I would get past the first chapter. What I found was a wonderful, no, beautiful and awe-inspiring interpretation of the two and their story that's been recycled by hundreds of fans all over the world, ending up beaten and abused and taken for granted in the process. Not to say that there aren't other great stories out there, because there undoubtedly are.

While reading, I found myself wishing that what you wrote had been drawn, had been animated, had been given music and voice. Your ability at writing created a movie in my mind, I don't mean to sound as though you didn't do a good enough job in that department. It was just the fact that the insight you had in the characters, writing from their perspectives in the first person, was SO personable, your description so vivid and feeling, that I felt it should be *given* visual life by those you've inspired. I hope to be able to manifest this inspiration I feel in coming days...

Thank you even more, perhaps, for keeping well established and beloved characters IN the characters we know them as. Tonight, I sought to read a story about Vejita and Bulma...searching for a story of their relationship, of their growth as individuals and as lovers... and that it exactly what I felt I got! And then some, of course, but as far as characterization goes... I really wish I had a "worship" icon right about now! ) You've put into words what I've been thinking and feeling about the characters and the story for years- I only hope that you understand what a powerfully moving feat that is. This story will be with me for the rest of my life... if even not in the forefront of my memory, then somewhere, undoubtedly taking up some reserved space for beloved story-telling both in my heart and in my imagination.

"Unexpected" is just... very, unimaginably, too BEAUTIFUL. Ugh. *shakes head* I can't get over it.

I hope you never, ever stop writing. You have a wonderful, wonderful gift.

Sincerely,

@D,,PallasStar
My Magdalena 6/12/07 . chapter 13
That was excellent! You captured an intensity of emotion between these two characters that was very enjoyable to read. You also made them both feel like real people, which is difficult to do. The one thing I didn't like was the way it switched between first person views. It was disorienting, and often times confusing when I didn't know who's view the section was coming from, especially with Yamcha. All said, great work!
