Wonderful. I was perusing stefanie bean's C2 for just this sort of nonconventional fare.
Loved Erik chanting "Der Rattenfanger"; it seems so in-character for him to say the sorts of things he says in this charming vignette. Also very much like the chatty, morbidly humorous and altogether quite amiable way the ratcatcher relates his little narrative.

I laughed out loud at that. What's a man to do? Just his job and stay away from all the weirdness. Nice descriptions. i can't believe a rat catcher wouldn't know the Pied Piper. Where are these people getting educated?

I love the way the ratcatcher talks. Commonfolk, simpleminded, but very real. It's a big switch from your usual sophisticated language. I found myself laughing when I read the part about the frogs!! The weekest part of this story was the ratcatcher's lack of curiousity in the end. He just sort of went "oh well, at least I got my rats." It left me with a question mark. The strongest part was the beginning when he's talking about how rats are really smarter than people give them credit for. And I believe it! They live (and chew) through anything. I love how you are writing all these short stories from different points of views. I spices up regular POTO by a LOT.

An interesting vignette about a greatly under-appreciated character. I like the English lilt to his voice, too. Wonder how a Cockney ratcatcher came to live in the bowels of the Opera Garnier...

I liked this, i would have never thought to write about the Rat Catcher. Very well written, this story is a nice change, in fact i think it is one of the better Phantom phics that i've read. Please keep up the awesome work. And when i have a chance i will read your other work you have posted.
