I heartily applaud you for this tale, which answers the question, "What if Tolkien wrote a fanfiction gap filer for MacBeth?" But seriously, I so enjoyed how you fleshed out this beloved sequence in MacBeth by describing Birnam Wood as though it were the last hoary remnants of Tolkien's Old Forest. I loved how you populated it not only with a sympathetic ent (Treebeard?) but also one of the weird sisters on her way to the heath.

Now your next step, Inkling, should be a gap filler for the entire MacBeth play. And don't feel like you're plagiarizing. Remember that Akira Kurosawa plagiarized MacBeth 50 years ago, with "Throne of Blood."

Very, very good job.

Treebeard and trees on the march - excellent! And here, Birnam Wood really does come to Dunsinane. With a vengeance.

Clever story, and well-told.

Wow! As a huge fan of both Tolkien and Shakespeare (and "Macbeth" is probably my favorite play!) I thought this was absolutely wonderful. An amazing combination of worlds, with just the right blend of the two... and a twinge of true Middle-earth sadness for the lingering Ent. Loved it!
