abusei'm very impressed with the amount of details you incorporated into your story. It seems to me that you have a extensive inherent knowledge of the Japanese culture. All those nice details made your story even more believable and realistic. It is sad to Kenshin in denial over how lonely he is at New Years Eve and how much he misses his shishou. Afterall, he's only a boy, not a man yet. Very eloquently written.

abuseI like how you bracket the story at beginning and end with the same thought. The idea of Kenshin, even while hitokiri in Kyoto, missing his master/father is really wrenching! I appreciated the notes at the end too. Everything I know about Japanese language and culture I've learned from fanfiction!

abuseA poignant heart-wrencher. And even so, at this point in his life, he has a long, empty road ahead of him when it comes to human bondings.

abuseThat was very touching. Even more so because Kenshin keeps reminding himself that he doesn't miss Hiko, when it's so obvious that he does. Everything he passes reminds him of him..I loved the flashbacks. Hiko has a great sense of humour. ^^

The ending was perfect. Once again he acknowledges that he doesn't miss him...It kind of reminds me of the poem 'Villanelle' by Elizabeth Bishop for some weird reason, lol. I love it!

abuseOh, this made me a little teary. It's a blatant irony that Kenshin says he's not missing his Shishou yet to every corner he sees, it reminds him of one of his experiences with Hiko. I think the alternation of memory/ past and present made it even more dramatic. Another great fic!:P

abuseVery rich sense of atmosphere in this one-shot. It was as if we were there on the crowded street with him - very cool. I also liked the interaction between Hiko and Kenshin (Hiko demanding he act with dignity but always trying to overset it - it's perfectly IC) The idea that some of the vendors might recognise Kenshin from before is intriguing.
