Very nice. "the upkeep of her appearance, the cheap, rather formulaic novels, even the dog, who doted on her." I liked that sentence, because it, in a very straightforward, no-nonsense, Riza-like way, kind of explains everything while stil having a bit of flair.

Very true. Every girl needs to be vain, once in a while. I say good for her. Fantasy can fill the void sometimes, and it's sometimes what most girls depend on.
