Teacher on Toast 2006-05-06 . chapter 1This is possibly the best To Kill A Mockinbird piece I think I've ever read. I'm taking an exam in it in two weeks' time, and one of the questions will be an 'empathy' question (i.e. write a fanfiction). I wrote a Jem one in class, and the whole class applauded... but it wasn't a scratch on yours. Mayella's personality, speech, ideology - you've got it all down to a tee! I adore the attitude you've given her - that in spite of all the luvvies who go writing romances, this Mayella really only does look after herself. She even blames Tom Robinson - in spite of him working for her! I love the way you've been able to make her selfish, yet still make me love her. She's a pathetic little thing, and as you've said, not a delicate creature! She's not idealistic or deep or intelligent, and she's not philosophical about it. But your truly know her principles by the end of it. I just love it. The characterization is absolutely spot on.
Look after that writing talent! |
proud shipper 2006-03-11 . chapter 1I love it. I especially like this line:
"That’s one thing neither a us liked about bein’ up there with them lawyers an’ all, I think. We didn’ talk ‘bout it; talk, right, us talk. Hardly ever talk to anybody but myself, one reason I liked Tom so much, but that’s aside the fact."
Good job. It desverves a 100. :] |
