Denouement Intrusion 2008-01-18 . chapter 1Oh man. I was trolling back through some older NCIS stories and found this. This is so sweet and tender, so loving, and so very beautiful.
I was just watching the episode "SWAK" for only the second time (had a hard time getting ahold of it) and you can really see in that episode that Gibbs purely and simply loves Tony, no matter how you might construe or interpret it. The increasing desperation with which he searches for an 'antidote', the utter shock on his face when the microbiologist tells him of the 15% survival chances, and his certainty that the force of his love can keep Tony alive when nothing else in the universe can help him, all demonstrate the true depth of his feelings for the younger man.
So reading this lovely piece just served to sort of illumine the undercurrents of that episode for me. And I must say, so many stories can't capture the gentle sweetness and tenderness that men are certainly capable of without making them seem effeminate or just weak; but you managed it extraordinarily well. You didn't ignore or minimise their personal issues or insecurities; you just somehow managed to point up the fact that strong but flawed men are as capable as anyone of loving tenderness.
Gah, I'm beginning to ramble but the simple fact is I really, REALLY loved this piece. And your English is very good; the only serious error I noted was a subject/verb order problem : you wrote "I really didn't like very much you back then;", proper order in English should be "I really didn't like you very much back then;". The subject, "you" should come right after the verb "like", not after the modifiers "very much". Other wise, your English is excellent.
I sent this story straight to favorites and I know I'll be reading it often; it's like getting a cuddle! Great job. |
