Like Danny Day Care, it's just very well structured, which is one of the most important things to a story. I still enjoy your characterisation, because it's dead on! And the little surprises in the story were yes, of course, not just surprising for McKay, but for the reader too, but they were also extremely amusing! And I finally get what Daniel and Teal'c were going on about at the beginning - I like how you wrote it so the reader guessed they were afraid of 1) Carter grilling McKay for trying to hit on her or 2) McKay being completely rejected and leave with a very heavy heart. Turned out to be neither. They just wanted to save him from learning about her marriage. And Teal'c was pointing out they couldn't protect Sam forever. At the time I thought they were trying to protect her from men, or perhaps McKay himself, but I think he actually meant that they were trying to prevent her secret from being told... Haha. I also like how this was linked in with Mitchell's confusion about how Sam never spends team nights with them. I was confused myself... But a part of me started to get the jist of it as soon as I saw the truck! Then the jacket... The hint dropping was very good. By the way, only question I have - does Landry not know about their marriage...? If he doesn't, it would be funny if he found out! Anyway, well done! Chibito |
