Why I read these sad stories is beyond me, but at least this one wasn't as sad as others like it--as sad as it could have been. I like to see Kagura portrayed as such; even if inherently tragic, she still is an empowered woman with a unique understanding of the value of life. And that Sesshoumaru comes to her in her last moments...

“Are you going now?” There is a solemn note to his voice that speaks of tragedy, of regret, of missed chances and lost opportunities.

... *mwah* Breathtaking. A beautiful, poignant retelling and well-worth my stumbling on it. Too bad you're not a fan of the pairing; you write both characters and their dynamic so well. :)

That was absolutely gorgeous. Chapter 374 of the manga made me seriously want to cry.

I really liked this one shot. The style is interesting, and you put a lot of emotional oomph into a very short story. I think you captured their relationship very well--it was original and yet true to canon at the same time. Congratulations on your well-deserved IYfanguild nomination.

Oh wow, Cinnie! I can't believe I've never read this before. It's so beautiful and sad. I think you did a realistic and excellent job with the pairing!

I agree this is a very good effort towards a pairing I'm not partial to either. *sigh* I really liked Kagura! Too bad she was killed off. Rumiko Takahashi creates wonderful characters but eventually doesn't know what to do with them! No wonder IY is so popular in fanfiction because all her characters get stuck playing the same scenario over and over again.

Oh well, enough of my rant. This is a well written piece of work, like your other stories. It's sad in a kind of Hans Christian Andersen Little Mermaid sort of way but a tad more upbeat. Just a tad.

I love how in a sense you summarize what happens in the real manga, but interject her feelings where the true author couldn't.

The path you take with these characters is well-trodden - death is a large part of these two characters, so it appears in many of their stories - but your twist works, and is fittingly bittersweet. I'm neutral on the effect of the sentences in brackets, as sometimes they work and sometimes they distract from the narrative.

Your attention to detail is really what makes "Lacuna" stand out, whether it is in Kagura's curiosity over how blood can rush through her if she has no heart, or her thoughts on Naraku - "she is just another one of them" almost *hurts* to read.
