In turn, Thayet tells him not to be such an idiot.

I love this. and how Thayet and Jon's relationship is shown- there's the polite talk and casual disinterest= but there's also that same passion they have, and all that they have in common. they make a good team. poor Jon- he's isolated himself. though sometimes he really is an idiot.

Aw, this almost makes me feel bad for Jon, which is quite a feat, since he's one of the characters I dislike the most!

I really liked this outlook on Jon. I like how it represented him and Thayet.

Why do I love this story so much? Lol, I don't know why. But it really is a diamond in the rough.

Trying to write Thomas-fic, only he's turned out boring as all hell, so I am writing you a review instead.

This really is incredibly awesome, knowing now that his parents have died ;) And you're right to say that that's not what it's about, because it isn't. It just helps to understand his state of mind at the time (and to place him in a particular time).

You do a lovely job of showing how isolated and lonely he is (where's George in all this, by the way?), as well as how much of a self-absorbed prick he can be. And then there's his capability for love - which he gives very freely and completely, even though it seems very stilted at first between Thayet and he. But then there's the second-to-last scene, and the beautiful realization that Thayet, beyond the conversations about weather and the overabundance of manners, is just as fierce and as disrespectful as Alanna *was*, and that there is something there beyond political convenience and a physical attraction.

And with that, one very less depressed King gotten over himself and moving on.

Now that I've summarised your fic, one small thing: "He's not even sure that if what he's doing is right or wrong".

Yaye. It's all poetic - how Jonathan would like to think he thinks if he had any sort of talent at all. TP's men are so sensitive! Except when they're not... So, yes...

I love this so much its ridiculous. Jonathan and his duty is a favorite thing of mine, but you bring in Gary and Thayet and its just wonderful.

"Jonathan pushes them all away, Alanna and Gary, Raoul and George.

Thayet pulls him back."

So much love.

It's refreshing to see such a well-written story. You've captured Jonathan and Thayet very, very well.

That was really good! I loved the way you told the story and how you told about how Jonathan's life is flying by so fast that he can't keep track of the days. It's also a good way of saying that he wants to be a good king and he tries his best, which is a great deal. Great story!! I'll be looking out for further stories!

I already told you how much I love this.

For me, one sentence perfectly describes the Jon/Thayet relationship in a nutshell, and why they are right together:

Thayet: "Jon, don't be such an idiot."
