Of all the metaphysical horrors that Rowling borrowed or created in the Harry Potter series, the Dementors are the ones who scare me the most: creatures who echo the vampire in being pure appetite, and manage to be even less human than that traditional avatar of the inhuman within us. This voice puts me in mind of the 'hungry ghosts' of Buddhism, or the Hollows from Kubo Tite's _Bleach_.

I would say 'origonal' but that sound vaguely demeaning. There is so much same-ness in the HP fanfic world that something new and interesting and marvolously written like this is just so great to come across.
