This is an adorable story, but there is one small error. It is my understanding that man (or rather, woman) is the only animal to suffer such pains during childbirth, at least according to the Bible I read at Temple the other week. It's supposedly Eve's punishment for eating the apple, and passed on to all descendents. (Not that I take I believe in Adam and Eve, but it was interesting reading). Anyway, I don't think there would be such an error in a Holy Book about whether other animals suffer during birth, especially as there was a footnote confirming that humans were really the only ones to suffer birthing pain, at least to such an extent.
