Poor Kenshin! How typical of him to keep a promise to play with children even in the midst of his grief. The little boy's awkward attempt to comfort him was really sweet.

This is such a sad scene.

I remember Kenshin hiding his eyes behind his bangs when he smiled and told the children that Tomoe has gone to a faraway place and is never coming back again. I found that a very touching scene at that time, wondering how sad Kenshin's eyes would be behind the cover. You have quite a nice choice of scene; I don't see this partocular scene being utilized often in angst fics. The most popular ones usually feature Tomoe's death and burial.
