I've always loved The Little Mermaid; the original story even more. And even though I detest Rin/Sesshomaru stories, this one was beautiful.

Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid is also my favorite Fairy Tale, I was born in Denmark and lived right near the Little Mermaid statue and my Farmor always used to tell me stories about it. I moved to America when i was 7, but every time I go back to Denmark I love visit her statue.

this was a really great take on TLM. You beautifully wove the two universes together. The characterization were superb. I loved it. It made complete sense that Rin was the mermaid. a mute child (teen) who followed her lord around with devotion. Not to mention the gifts. *sigh* fantastic story. This just makes me want to reread TLM. In fact, that's what I'm off to do.

That was so terribly sad, yet so terribly beautiful. I love the little mermaid. But Really, I wish yuo'd let rin have the hope the little mermaid had. She was going to get a chance at a soul...

Such a sad story, but at the same time it is so beautiful and well written. I think Naraku is just perfect for the part, as well as Kohaku, I loved his character.
This story made me want to cry.. Poor little Rin, and I admit that I hate Lady Sara... -_-

I have to say that this fic is in fact a great take on that old classic. I love your writing. However, I have to ask, was Sesshomaru's tears from realizing that she is going to die or that she is the mermaid that saved him?

haha, Little Mermaid is also my favorite fairy tale of all time. (the disney movie, though is a great watch for children, kind of made me mad since it totally blew the concept). Just like the original story, you captured the exact same sadness of unrequited love. But you know, even if the mermaid/Rin were allowed to live after he marries the other woman, i had the feeling she would've ended her life anyways. Something different about your story though, is that the beginning made it seem like you were promising us a happy ending only to have us crying at what really would happen. I enjoyed this a lot. As expected from the author of The Last Day, i was totally impressed.
