i thought the whole idea wa very cute! i loved how it was about watching race roll cigarettes. very different from all the other slashy one shots...but i loved it!! i would say it def. my favorite one shot ive read so far!

WOW. Awesome. It was short, but it still managed to build up slowly enough that the outcome was satisfying and didn't seem rushed at all. It was a very quiet story, almost if you blink, you'll miss the moment...which is really quite lovely.

"...until he doesn't know if he's blushing or what." That 'or what' at the end just made the most difference for me. It was perfect there and I don't know what made you write it, but it really brought out so much feeling of uncertainty, akwardness, acceptance...I have no idea why I'm obsessing over two words, it just stuck in my mind.

After reading your stories, I always come away with something different, stylistically or about the characters. I seriously feel like I have to write something now before the goodness that is your writing wears off. *love*

...that having been said, this is a beautiful glimpse of their daily life and a masterful capture of the specific moment. It's so very simple, but also layered with strong emotions, and your use of language, strong verbs with short sentence, reflects that.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. I want to see "tomorrow night," out of pure selfishness, but this probably works better as a one-shot.

Wow! That was just absolutely lovely! Good for you for writing Race/Jack, too, and for pulling it off so wonderfully! Of course, you could probably write Race/eggbeater and I would still love it. And all the details about the cigarettes! Oh, just amazing.

Loverly fic! Gotta love single-conceit one-shots. I learned something, too - didn't know all that was involved in rolling a cigarette. Hot last lines, too:

"Yours was better," Jack says.

Race exhales thoughtfully. "Yeah, it was," he agrees, and hands the cigarette back to Jack. "You just need practice."

Race was very Race, which I honestly don't think many authors get right, myself included (someday, I hope). And Jack/Race is very cute to me, I'm not sure why.

I definitely think that subtlety and sexual tension is the way to go with 1899 slash, and you nailed it here. Yay!

Figured I might as well review here, too, since I adore this that much, and it deserves all the reviews it can get. One thing I don't think I mentioned before is how much I love the mentions of them when they were younger; if there's one thing I love about certain pairings, it's the shared history they can have, and since I clearly can't get that with non-AU Javid, it's nice to see it here, with Jacktrack. And, of course, every other good thing I've said about this story still stands. Because you rock hardcore.
