| amyblair 2008-08-27 ch 28, | abuseI thought I should read this one since it said you were pulling it down in September. From the accident to the possession to the reincarnation-thing to your original characters - this was really good. I liked the way you tied everything in together. Great story. Tom Bailey. Paramedic. Conspiracy theorist and apparent descendant of Cahokia. Great line. I chuckled. Nice brother moments. Way to go. |
| rozzy07 2008-08-11 ch 28, | abuseWow girl you did it! A truly amazing finish to an incredible story, although long in the telling was so well worth the wait to be able to devour the end result. It has been an inspiring journey, with each new chapter adding more and more depth to the mythical arc you wove so magically, and each time the characters grew more complex and richer, becoming oh so much more to me. Have to say your OC’s Tom will always have a place of affection in my old ticker. >“Yeah, with that little tilty head thing you do!” cried Tom, pointing at Sam and stepping back a bit. “Oh, that creeps me out. But I’m glad you used it on someone else this time!”> As for the brothers, so much has changed for them, that an ordinary life is no longer, if ever, possible for them, with Dean taking on the mantle of protective big brother with fervour now, especially knowing that his brother is: > a freaking radar for all things psychic, and everything was going into the stratosphere> Too true, and as much as Dean might wish it otherwise his brother’s life will be forever governed by these gifts growing with him. The long awaited talk when they face the truth of this was sweetly done, Dean not denying how freaked he was by it but still determined to be the support his brother needs. And Sam knows this, with such surety and faith, that his brother will always be stepping forwards ahead of any danger, will always be his protector. So as gently as you wound it down, to Dean’s reunion with his beloved ‘gal’, to them all returning to the mounds and facing down any inner terror the place still might have, to birthday cake, to friendship forever forged with love even as we leave much loved characters behind us you take the boys home again. Back to the impala and the open road again. So Caroline, a very fitting ending, though as they finish this journey there is a warning of another to come. The demon is still out there, Sam knows it, but there is a strength about the boy now, a faith in him, in his brother, to keep hope afloat -that the Winchester boys will see it through. Thanks so much for sharing this story with me over the many months it took to complete. It truly has been spellbinding. Rozzy |
| Macs 2008-08-10 ch 28, | abuseHoly Crap... It might have taken a few hours, but reading this has been an absolute joy! I mean, wow! I love your style, your characters, Winchester or otherwise, are brilliantly written, as always it seems, and I was literally on the edge of my wheely chair reading through about the last ten or so chapters. Your pacing is excellent, descriptions are great and the research and background is wonderful to read, especially when you're transposing the mythology to a different background, it's really effective. In a word, fan-bloody-tastic. Absolutely blew me away. |
| tracer2032 2008-08-10 ch 28, | abuseWO HOO! Okays, and I apologize for my tardiness. It's been a couple days since I could piece together words on a page! lol But this was a really good ending. Think you tied everything up really well, and left the feeling that the story goes on beyond this one you know? I wish you good luck transposing this for your other works as well! And hey, everyone could use a class in Styx history! lol Think if we gonna offer Harry Potter classes at my university...you know? Good job and many congrats on finishing! |
| sendintheclowns 2008-08-07 ch 28, | abuseWow. You are such an amazing, talented writer. And person. I'm really excited about what you're going to do in the future. I have a feeling you can expect great success. You're right that there's been a subtle shift in your writing style. I'm sure Gem and your other betas had a hand in the change but don't sell yourself short. A gifted writer will take or discard what works for them and integrate it into their process; I'd say you did that in spades. I'm sad the tale has come to an end. Thanks for sharing it with us. It was so worth the ride! |
| AuroraDannon 2008-08-07 ch 28, | abuseWell, I am glad that I managed to find this story ebfore ti was taken down. I really enjoyed reading it. It actaully took up two days of thoughts until I was able to go and finish it. I should really be doing so many other things... Anyway. I did enjoy the story. and I am interested in reading you book from it. I do have one question. Are you going to continue writing in your little AU or with this story going down are you stopping? :) |
| JadeAlmasy 2008-08-07 ch 28, | abuseawesome ending!! it was really good!! Jade |
| TraSan 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abuseWoo hoo, girly, you finished! And wow - what a finish! Though, I suppose I should be cross at the open ending. :) I love how throughout it all, you've showcased the brothers relationship. YED, mysterious mounds, possessions, other wordly interference, but at the very core, it was Sam and Dean at their brotherly best. You're an awesome writer and I'm so glad you finished this. A spectacular masterpiece. |
| Fireman Phil 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abuseNice finish! I fully expect writing instructors to begin teaching proper use of the "Carocali Method." That is when an author extends, prolongs or otherwise drags out the presentation of a serialized story in such a way as to re-create for the reader the emotional impact of a lengthy period of time described in the story itself. :) |
| friendly 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abusehey women great job.. that was an awesome story... loved it.. |
| Elesem 2008-08-06 ch 14, | abuseReally interesting. You've created a great myth. Risky choice attributing the boys' destiny to native american mythology instead of the christian mythology so prevalent in the show. Your research is making it work though. Nice build up of tension too. Good job. :D |
| TammiTam 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abuseOh girl we've come a long way! I adore your writing, so if this ever becomes a book, let me know! |
| geminigrl11 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abuse*breaks open the bubbly* Babe, this is fantastic. What a great epilogue to an utterly wonderful tale! I've learned so much and LOVED so much, and you've made me care about the OCs (esp. Tom) nearly as much as our dear boys. I love that you left it open-ended, too...Let's face it: the boys are never going to be off the radar of ANYTHING supernatural they've come in contact with until they're actually (permanently) out of the picture. So that goosebump-inducing hint of foreboding? Fits right in! Can't wait to read the rest of The Other Cahokia--and hope you'll email the whole of this one so I can read it after you've taken it down. Thanks for sharing this with me...with us. And HUGE congratulations! |
| irismay42 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abuseYou finished it!! YAY!! Congratulations - I bet that's a weight off your mind, huh? I'm so impressed you had the motivation to carry this story through to the end - a lesser person would have given up months ago! I really liked this line: "Their only sanctuary was the Impala, their home, and the blue highways that told the story of their lives." because that pretty much sums up the show for me! I liked the Batmobile joke too - especially when you consider the Batmobile in the first two movies was made from two '67 Impalas welded together! I have to say, you seem to be one of the few Sammy Girls who actually LIKES the idea of "Super!Sammy" - I liked the way you laid the groundwork for continuing with that story and it would be nice if Sam finally got a useful superpower like healing! Again, congrats on finishing - well done! |
| Nana56 2008-08-06 ch 28, | abuseI forgot to tell you! My bff and I went there! I'll email later. :D This has just been an amazing ride. I've loved it all and I now will go back and read the whole thing...not at one sitting, of course. LOL It's been a pleasure to read and when I reread, it'll be with the knowledge we picked up at our visit. Awesome job, sweetie! Glad to hear you're making up your own story based on this. Best wishes! Nana |
