This story goes really deep. At first I thought it was something that was taking over poor Okita's mind but then I got a little confused on how Okita even came back alive! I know he had a grudge against Saito and I also know that he became a part of the monster.

I'm just glad that you didn't make him really evil. The signs were all there too. The way he spared Kenshin and Soujiro although Saito said it was because he wanted the Battousai to bleed to death to helping Soujiro.

Really, even though he was only in the flashback, he is the best looking character in the anime and my favorite. Okita probably had a lot of girls swooning over him.

In the end, it played well too, because Okita gave Soujiro something he was never able to do seeing as he died young. He gave Soujiro a second chance to live, to love and have a family, and to die old.

Okita is truly an honorable man!

'roller coaster ride' is a good way to describe this story.

You've a real knack for horror! I'm glad you managed to salvage Soujiro, and I had to laugh over Saitoh's fixation on making babies during his mental soliloquay in the police station.

There was a bit of a problem with the story's main premise though. The Japanese favored cremation, not internment, so there wouldn't have been many bodies left for the villainous blob of evil to re-animate. I'm still not sure why it needed to strip the flesh off the bones if it was only going to put it back on again later. Seems a remarkably silly waste of time on the monster's part, though it added much to the 'oh ick'iness of finding the first victims' bodies.

The gore set the tone for the story, and it was perfect to read over the Halloween season.

This is the end huh? Wow...I feel so...empty.

All speculations aside, I really enjoyed reading this story. For that, I thank you.

I have some suspicions involving their relation but then again, it's all there is to it...guesses.

I like Okita as well. AN impressive figure actually.

I really think that Usui's a sad case. (chuckles)

This is the best EVER. I was absolutely devastated when Saitou got the letter about the desecration of Okita's grave- I'm rather fond of the man, and he was in, what, two episodes max?- and how he turned out to be one of the 'good' guys! The way you wrote everyone in this was wonderful, write more soon, hm?
