abuseSuch a wonderful portrayal of how a child sees the world. And I love Hiko's denial, then fierce embracing of his deshi in spirit. So sad too! I love it!

abuseWow...I've read all of the 'Adoption' series, and loved every one of them, but this is no doubt my favorite. I love Hiko/Kenshin parent/child fics. This was sad, and yet so sweet. You did a wonderful job in your portrayal of Kenshin-chan and Hiko-san. Great, great job!

abuseAh, another one! A little tear-jerking at the end there (course I'll cry at anything) but I love how Hiko's (twisted) sense of humor is really evident in the flashbacks.

abuseThat was so moving! I absolutely loved the flashbacks, Kenshin was being so cute, and Hiko was...just being Hiko. ^_^ I love how you portray the more sensitive side to him, it's very believable.

abuseWow! I'm so in love with this! I think this is the best of all the adoption series (for now)!! Those three memories were great. "For a moment, I hold in my hand not a stone, not a feather, not a strand of hair, but a boy’s spirit; one who could see flowers in stone, hold the sky in a feather, believe that there was always unknown good to be discovered." It summed up the story perfectly! It seemed the little Kenshin was really pure at heart and always being idealistic. And Hiko really didn't want anything of that destroyed, even if they were just memories. (He hasn't known yet that Kenshin didnt change a bit even after 15 yrs!)

Oh and I also love "Not every enemy wields a blade, not every battle is fought with muscle. Some strategist he’ll make, never having learned that." Simply wonderful! This is such a treat.. thank you! And yay! there's another one!:P

abuseMan, I thought Missing No-one was tragic, but seeing Hiko's POV takes things to another level.

The flashbacks where great and so bittersweet, but I especially liked the one associated with that lone red lock of Kenshin's hair. If only because Hiko's wicked sense of humor makes itself more prevalent in that flashback then the others. I really got a good laugh out of this part:

I crossed my arms and donned my best "stern Shishou" frown.

"Observing your own master is not important?"

"No, Master-I mean yes! Yes it is! It's just that's not much of who you are. Or not the important piece, anyway."

"So if my brown-eyed, seeming twin showed up, you would notice something off about your master? Hm?"

He was scandalized

XD I'll never get tired of Hiko's teasing. On a related note I was a tad surprised to see Hiko shy away from the 'women' topic, I figured he'd have tackled the 'talk' with the same audacity he shows to everything else. Oh well, twelve is a bit young, though I don't envy Kenshin when Hiko decided when the time was right XP

'They took the future of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu. They took his ideals, his youth, his spirit. They destroyed his life, and my hopes.' Until I read this the idea that Hiko had nothing but those small mementoes of times long gone didn't really sink in. To think that everything he worked for, all his hopes for the future, dashed from one fateful decision. Yes Kenshin turned out alright in the end, but Hiko doesn't know that and goes without knowing for fifteen years.

Thanks for the fantastic fic, I hope we'll see more.

abuseThis was beautiful. I love your depiction of Hiko's stubborn mix of pride and affection, and the way you throw his sly sense of humour into these POVs. A red dandelion, indeed! I can just imagine it.

The thought of those three mementos adding up to the boy Kenshin's spirit is wonderful. Thanks very much.
